Tip 8 - Take Action

The 8th of my goal setting tips is all about the power of taking action to make your goal a reality.

If you've read the 7 goal setting tips preceding this one, you should understand by now that some preparation is required in terms of focusing on what you want, developing the right mindset to achieve it and having a step by step action plan of how you are going to get there.

All of this is extremely valuable in helping you develop consistent, focused attention on achieving your goal and now you are ready to TAKE ACTION!

Some people like to jump in feet first and keep taking different actions until they find what works without going through the other goal setting tips. There's a lot to be said for this as taking action triggers all kinds of things that will inevitably carry you to success. It is more efficient to go through the other goal setting steps first, however some people can get bogged down in 'analysis paralysis', continuing to plan and organize things, attempting to perfect their ideas before taking action. How can you perfect an idea? It is what it is....an idea! Only when you try it out will you begin to understand whether it works or not.

Taking action has many positive repercussions which take you towards your goal. Those around you become aware of your serious intention and start paying you attention. Others who have similar goals become aligned with you and a synergistic effect develops as you work together and help each other out. You learn things from your experiences that you could not glean from reading a book or listening to others. You begin to get feedback about how you could do things better and more efficiently. Things become clearer and easier for you. You attract others who will support and encourage you. All manner of good things flow in your direction once you take action.

Taking action is one of the key things that separates winners from losers. People who are successful in life seem to have a low tolerance for excessive planning and talking. They love taking action and you should learn to love it too!

You may have thoughts, concerns or beliefs that are preventing you from taking action. Just notice that they are all coming from YOU and so you can change them to ones that serve you better. Have you ever made any of these excuses?

I haven't got it perfect yet...
I'm waiting for inspiration...
I need permission...
I need reassurance...
So and so has to change...
I'm waiting for the right person to come along...
I can do it when the kids leave home...
My horoscope isn't good...
It's too risky...
I need more information...
I need more confidence...

Enough already! Just get on with it - you have to meet the universe half way!
